Paul Willwerth, professor emeritus of trumpet and graduate studies in music theory and literature at Central Michigan University, played with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston "Pops" Orchestra and other renowned organizations and was formerly solo-cornetist with the United States Army Band at West Point. He has appeared as recitalist and soloist with civic and university symphony orchestras and wind ensembles and as guest trumpeter with organizations requesting coverage of high-tessitura parts as found in works of the Baroque era.
For many years Dr. Willwerth conducted civic and university symphony orchestras and wind ensembles, and civic, university and ecclesiastic choral organizations, and he was the first recipient of the Doctor of Musical Arts degree with performance concentration in trumpet from the University of Michigan (1962).
His vast experience as a teacher, performer and conductor have contributed immeasurably to the nature and quality of his compositions and arrangements.
